The importance of structural engineering is often overlooked for residential building projects. The team at Latemore Design, however, understand the importance of a good structural solution and how this needs to be incorporated into their building design at an early stage in the design process to ensure a smooth documentation program and a cost effective construction solution.
It is a pleasure working with a team of people who share the same passion for quality documentation and a dedication to providing practical, cost effective design solutions without compromising your needs as a client. Our shared focus has proven to be very successful and continues to provide great outcomes for clients. A quality, clear set of documents allows greater confidence for owners and builders.
If you are looking for a team of design consultants to make the most of your project, have a look at the rest of this web site, they have a good brochure here which explains a lot about the process. Also lots of projects and testimonials. They are a good fun bunch of people to deal with and I am sure it will be a great experience for you as a home owner looking to renovate or construct a new home.

After driving past one of my projects and appreciating the tidy job site, Yara of Latemore Design engaged me on a major renovation. Since then, we have done several projects together, and I enjoy the interaction with the whole team, especially when we have to solve unforseen issues.
Latemore Design consider a builder's needs during the design process, and will even listen to my ideas, which is refreshing. They believe in involving a builder early, which I know saves lots of issues for owners, especially in assessing costs before things are finalised.

We became aware of Latemore Design during the early stages of the Cooke/Weston renovation. The owners engaged them after previous efforts had way over-blown the budget, and we were concerned the project would not proceed. Latemore Design came up with an innovative approach that stayed right on budget, and ensured our timeslot was protected. We must have impressed them too, as we have done more with them, eg Mosey, and really enjoy the thought they put into design and how we build things.

New House, Dayboro
The team at Latemore Design is made up of extremely talented, innovative, creative, communicative and hard working individuals. They have designed two beautiful homes for us with our needs and personalities in mind. They create interesting features throughout the house and their designs compliment the land and make fantastic use of aspect and terrain. We are thrilled with their work and the manner in which they work. They are unique.

We thoroughly enjoyed the whole process and are ecstatic with the finished job. We love it - it is our own tourist resort, whether we are enjoying breakfast or sitting in the room relaxing with a book or a glass of wine - it is like being at a remote haven. The aim was to bring the backyard into the house and the house into the garden and it has worked superbly.

Being certifiers, myself, plus our team here at Catalyst, see a lot of documentation. Latemore Design are building designers who attempt to provide us with the best information possible so we can assess projects properly. Also, we are asked by them to assist with advice on some buildings, prior to approval lodgement, so that potential problem issues are resolved early. We appreciate all this, and value their continued use of our services, as we share the same professional attitudes.

Major Extension and Build-in, Small Lot, Camp Hill
Our renovation and extension project was a fantastic experience and having someone like Latemore Design, who listened to us, then translated our thoughts into the functional and warm family home we wanted, was an amazing process.
Peter and his team were friendly, professional, approachable and innovative, which were the qualities we were looking for, in this very important working partnership. We have a small lot, but wanted to tread lightly on the earth, Latemore Design and his team did a fantastic job. The result of our collaboration was a high quality, individual design with all the documentation taken care of by Latemore Design- it was so easy for us. We were very excited to begin the building asap.
We were very fortunate to engage a professional and personable building company – Jarbou Build. They offered technical assistance and expertise during the project, which we valued immensely. They listened and respected our opinions – we believe this is a special quality that sets them apart from other builders.
We really love our new home - the design is perfect, and we've really enjoyed seeing it evolve. John absolutely loves the deck and wants to see how many people it will hold! When we do stage 2 of our project, which will be done in a couple years, when we need more rooms for our growing family - Latemore Design and Jarbou Build are the only team we will consider!

Pavilion, Hawthorne
We love the flexibility of our extra house
. It has provided a great study
device, as it seems well insulated from extra sounds and distractions. Stereo
quietly playing is most congenial. Or the opposite, as I can kick the son down
to the outhouse and have space upstairs. We liken our bright pavilion to being
a bit like a solid tent, and in fact the front props match the angle of our tent.
It really is the coolest place to be, actually, and I like using it for a summer
retreat. Locals saw it in the Courier Mail and are known to take walks past,
complaining they can't see enough from the street! Some I hear trying to convince
the spouse to part with their preconceived shed idea. So look out Peter and team,
you will be doing more!

Renovation, Ferny Hills
The initial project brief appeared simple - to renovate a bathroom and to enclose some rather aged external stairs. The end result was far more impressive than I had hoped for. The folks at Latemore Design and Ross Stone from Prestige Building Group formed a great team. Some of the things myself and the family have to enjoy in the haven in the trees;
- An excellent bathroom making full use of available space.
- A beautiful enclosed entry atrium area with feature wall and modern stairs.
- An extended lounge / entertainment room.
- An effective kitchen with free access onto the new deck and open views onto bushland.
- The house exterior given a modern look with eave extensions and awnings.
Thanks to Peter & Yara from Latemore Design and Ross the builder for a truly exceptional result and creating something special.

Extension to colonial cottage, Small Lot, Red Hill
Latemore Design have been great from start to finish. We now have a fabulousÂ
extension to our lovely Queenslander which doesn't try to be something it isn't
(over 100 years old!) by blending with and complimenting the existing interior
and exterior areas, such that the result is greater than the sum of the parts.
Our initial brief was to add a main bedroom, ensuite and increase the living
space while not destroying the feeling of our 100+ year old home
which
has been well and truly delivered plus the process was a delight to be part
of, as they injected such great ideas and passion into it. At all times,Â
the team of Yara Barrozo and Peter Latemore, kept our budget in mind and
took the time to understand us and our lifestyle so that the design was a
perfect match. The recommended builder, Ross Stone of Prestige Building
Group, was worth waiting for as the build was trouble free, tidy and well
managed, plus we were always kept in formed, obtained assistance with
the key decisions and he provided great advice on colours and finishes.
We would highly recommend Latemore Design, plus the builder Ross Stone,
as their work will last the test of time.

Renovation, Mitchelton
I cannot recommend Peter and his team at Latemore Design highly enough.
When we had our third child we decided that we needed more room. We originally
thought we would just raise our Queenslander and build underneath. After coming
out and listening to our brief and budget, Peter suggested that we tweak
the layout of our house and extend our deck rather than go though the more
costly and disruptive exercise of raising our house. We impressed by his ability
to think outside the box and are thrilled with the final outcome.
Latemore Design put us in touch with our wonderful builder – Ross from Prestige Building Group. Ross always kept us informed, was a pleasure to work with and has a great sense of design. He was considerate of the fact that we had three small children and made what could have been a nightmare experience (having half a house for six months) go really smoothly.
We now have a home that is very liveable. The end result is so much better than we expected. We have a new living area, a new kitchen that opens on to a usable covered deck and our old kitchen is now a fourth bedroom. Overall the results are stunning. The renovations have changed the way we use our house but has still kept the original qualities that we liked when we first bought. Peter’s attention to detail is superb and he was always willing to listen to our ideas. Thank you again Peter.

We were looking for a building designer that was heading in the direction we desired our building business to go (down the energy efficient, sustainable building design road). We met Peter and his team on a client's home that we were renovating and extending and that they had designed. We were very impressed with their level of detail, and interest in helping us and enjoyed the high level of communication between client, designer and builder throughout the project which made the building process run smoothly. We are continuing to work on other projects with them, and enjoy their interaction and knowledge they have, as they are just as willing to learn from us as we from them. We as builders place great importance on a good relationship and communication between the client, designer and builder as this results in a happy and cohesive building process and a satisfied customer at completion. We are especially interested, like them, in using sustainability processes, and we, with Latemore Design are HIA Greensmart accredited.
We highly recommend Latemore Design and are pleased to be associated with them.

I knew Latemore Design through my supply of specialist screens. We engaged them after a sad process of not getting decent drawings for our new house, which caused no end of problems. Never again will I use cheapies! I strongly encourage others to engage Latemore Design because their higher fees ensure that someone has thought of everything, and their knowledge will protect you from potential disaster. Beside that, they are nice people.

New House and later Extension, Maleny
When we purchased our dream land at Maleny, we initially thought of just going
to a building construction company
. However, with further thought, we decided
we needed a home designed to suit the land, the views, and the environment.
To this end, we were smart enough to realise is that we knew too little. So it was that we approached Latemore Design to help us create our dream home.
Wow
– do these guys know their stuff.
Things like:
- From the outset, we were advised that it was Latemore Design’s intention to create a design that was the result of our needs, thoughts and ideas. They impressed upon us that it was to be a home for us to enjoy
- The little extras in the originally designed cottage, since extended again with the Latemore Design touch, such as a huge pantry in the kitchen, a front and rear deck of significant proportions to again benefit from the natural elements. Suffice to say that Latemore Design attended to each area of the design to ensure the completed home was not only unique from a design perspective, but also ensured that the final outcome exceeded our expectations
- The positioning of the home to reap the benefits of the magnificent views available, while also ensuring we receive the summer and winter benefits available to us in this wonderful location
- Their ability to maximise the use of the space available
ensured
quaint
areas to compliment the unique style of our home - 1.2metre overhangs that not only complement the aesthetic view of the home, but are highly practical in the Queensland environment, not to mention being able to leave our double-hung windows open in all but the most vicious storm
- The detail in the plans developed for us by Latemore Design ensured
that
(a) The builder found little that required additional instructions, and
(b) It was easy for the builder to understand what the designers were planning to achieve
The process that we went through initially with Peter for the cottage
and subsequently with Peter and his other designers for the extension, realised
that we would have been quite silly to attempt this process without the Latemore support.
Since firstly the cottage and now the extended home has been completed we have
had only favourable comments regarding our piece of paradise. Sure, the builder
and the finishing tradespeople have shown the home to be of high quality. But
without that initial and subsequent design, the home would not be the standout
it is – the big
blue house in Meadow Road (as opposed to the
little
blue house as it was known in its cottage days).
Thanks Peter – thanks Latemore Design
