ADAPT Modular successful at Spring HomeShow

Adapt Modular at 2011 Spring Homeshow - exterior Adapt Modular at 2011 Spring Homeshow - interior

ADAPT Modular, as it is now called, was a huge success at the 2011 Spring CourierMail HomeShow.

THE BIG BACKYARD concept space that it anchored was a huge hit too. As designed by Seed Landscapes.

People were amazed that a building of such high quality could be brought in and readied in less than 3 days. Its sophisticated finish really gave visitors a lot to think about. Our many sponsors were thoroughly pleased by its impact, as many questions emerged about their products.

The home show organisers were impressed at how well ADAPT and THE BIG BACKYARD performed as their presentation stage too, and it might return for the March show.

We are gearing up to begin manufacture so if you want a new pavilion or house contact Peter for more detail.

The big news is that ADAPT is the feature of the CourierMail HomeShow in Sep 11.

So you will be able to see a very real prototype. It will be part of a Big Backyard concept we are organising.

March 2011

Things are proceeding, you’ll be pleased to know.

We are currently talking with a few potential people, so early days yet.

But in the meantime, our news is we intend to place a pod at the CourierMail HomeShow in September 2011. Peter will again be talking at this show as well. The pod will be a good example of our product.

ADAPT - An Update

To all our interested people, thank you for your patience. Sorry it has taken a little while to get ADAPT back on track, but please read on. We are very pleased to finally say to potential clients that we can begin supplying!

We are still in the process of getting ourselves ready to begin supplying the pods as we call them. Without going into a long story, suffice to say that we are undertaking this process, after the previous manufacturer was unable to supply. We are doing this with our design partner, Mercury Design, and building partner, JarbouBuild.

So, what we are in the midst of organising is the manufacture and installation on site of two sets of pods, for interested clients. Those sets we think would probably be two pods each, but depends entirely on the client's wishes of course. If say you needed just one now and more later, that would be easily dealt with. Once we have the first two sets done, we will be assessing our capacity, and be able to inform our many inquirers of potential time scales.

JarbouBuild will be the manufacturer as well as the builder. Each pod will be ultra insulated, high strength for wind loads, and finished internally and externally, to your specifications. Some work occurs on site, eg roof. One thing that will be changed from the ones you see on our website and in magazines, is that wet areas may have sheet material, not tiles, as the waterproofing layer. We also look like breaking the pods down a bit into more manageable 3.3x6.6 or 3.3x3.3m elements.

We think the way we are going to run it, is to have a normal design and documentation arrangement between ourselves and clients, utilizing our pods. Once resolved and approved for building, like normal, then clients enter into a simple standard contract with JarbouBuild. The only difference would be that the progress payments for frame, lock-up and some of final, would occur as one larger figure. The reason we are contemplating this process is to ensure we get started, and it suits standard lending procedures!

As regards costs, please ring or email and we can discuss. Initial estimates range between $60-80k for a pod of 35sqm, depending very much on inclusions especially wet areas. Within a certain geographic area that might be including transportation and installation on site. We know this represents a saving of $25k or so, when compared to a built on site version. Please keep in mind we are still confirming this.
